Anmerkungen zu GREAT GAME, 2023

B. in "Männer" umgewandelt. "Fake it until you make it" oder "Great Game"?

Notes on GREAT GAME, 2023

This is part of a project on a research book on the geopolitical rivalry between the British and Russian empires in Central Asia in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The smartphone-sized acrylic Plexiglas works are excerpts from a book, which will be preserved as a single copy in Samarkand at the Ruhsor Museum of Contemporary Art. It features dialogues between the artist and an artificial intelligence, in which they discuss topics such as freedom, the past, fear, nostalgia and life in the present. The project invites the reader to rethink the colonial trap and move beyond an eastern-exotic representation of the region. The dialogues are collected in 8 languages and translated using Google Translator. In translating from Kyrgyz into Turkmen, the word "people" has been e.g. converted to "men". These and other misinterpretations of the system illustrate the transfer of system errors of social systems from the real to the virtual world and thereby determine reality. „Fake it until you make it“ or „Great Game“?

The series of works is an ongoing dialogue that the artist is engaged in. The works are each unique and dated and signed by the artist.

During the exhibition period, 6 of these works are available for purchase at a preferential price.
